Cedar Lined Hardwood Box

Lining a box with cedar is an ancient way to keep bugs out. The perfume of the cedar is a natural insect repellent and smells lovely when you open it.

This box uses traditional (and time consuming) spline miter joinery – a stronger join than modern methods – built to last generations. For example, the top panel ‘floats’ within the frame in order to adapt to the natural swell and shrink of wood in different climates, so the wood will never buckle or create stress on the corners.
